In recent years, the wave of AI has swept the world, and the National Science and Technology Council has actively promoted the "New Southbound Policy" to encourage domestic academic institutions to increase technological exchanges with 18 new southbound target countries. With the support of the National Science and Technology Council, National Chung Cheng University established an alliance with the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar) and Chitkara University to establish the "Taiwan Indian Artificial Intelligence Center" at IIT Ropar for the first time. Smart Overseas Scientific Research Center" office, and completed the space establishment, funding planning, cooperation model and staffing. In the future, we will jointly promote national science and technology plans, research and develop key technologies in the industry, and deepen bilateral cooperation between Taiwan and India. The overseas scientific research center has three main missions: to deepen bilateral AI academic exchanges between Taiwan and India, to encourage cross-border AI innovation and entrepreneurship cooperation, and to promote AI international programs, including dual master's and doctoral programs. Research scope Focuses on AIoT design and FinTech technology in various fields, and has achieved many results so far. In terms of bilateral international teacher-student cooperation, preliminary research results have been achieved in smart face recognition, smart bamboo recognition, precision agriculture, precision marketing and recommendation systems. The center intends to act as the largest scientific research, industry-university cooperation and innovation and entrepreneurship platform between Taiwan and India in these two fields, benefiting the national pillars of the two countries, and then strengthening the international relations between the two countries. Keywords: India, Taiwan, India Overseas Research Center for Artificial Intelligence, New Southbound Policy.
The primary goal of the center is to establish a cross-border artificial intelligence technology innovation research laboratory (CCU-India AI Innovation Lab) in Taiwan and India. The specific work items promoted include the promotion of transnational project implementation, transnational research projects, transnational short-term internship programs, mutual visits between teachers and degree students, active matchmaking between the supply and demand of teachers and students in Taiwan and India, and the provision of two-way AI/Fintech technical guidance, etc. The entry and exit of this laboratory is talents, and the output is innovative technology. The talents come from the teachers and students of our school and Indian schools. The innovative technologies exported will be provided to the Center's AI Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center for future technology transfer or entrepreneurship.
The technology developed by the center's research team or the artificial intelligence technology innovation research laboratory is used as a seed to encourage teachers and students to establish new start-up companies. The center will act as a cooperation platform for matchmaking and exchanges and provide supporting resources and related consultation, such as industry links with the two countries, fundraising information, professional courses and counseling for entrepreneurship, etc.
Entrepreneurship requires technology, and technology requires talents, so talent cultivation is one of the key goals of the center's development. The goal will be achieved in two stages. First, to promote the four existing international degree programs of the school so that it can recruit more outstanding students from India. Second, establish the Taiwan-India Multi-Degree AI International Programs. This part will also build a database of Indian scientific research talents in artificial intelligence for reference by industry, government, academia and research institutions of the two countries. The establishment and promotion of the international degree program will greatly enhance the research capacity of National Chung Cheng University and the AI talents needed by the Indian industry.
In cooperation with the international cooperation projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, and the Science and Technology Group in India, the Center will provide relevant services and assistance.
